TITAN Group, an international producer of cement and building materials, and Ecocem, Europe's leader in low-carbon cements technology, announce a collaboration to develop low-carbon cements in Europe. This collaboration is an important step for TITAN towards net zero emissions and is in line with their strategic objective to further expand the innovative product portfolio.
The companies will jointly develop a customized version of ACT, Ecocem's scalable low-carbon cement technology, for use by TITAN. The new cement will replace a significant portion of traditional clinker with supplemental cementitious materials (SCMs). This co-developed cement reduces the CO₂ footprint of cement to as much as 70%, while meeting performance requirements for materials.
Marcel Cobuz, chairman of the TITAN Group Executive Committee, said, "Innovation is key to achieving our net zero goals and the collaboration with Ecocem is an important step in that direction. This collaboration brings us closer to our goal of making our production process and product portfolio more sustainable."
Donal O'Riain, founder and Managing Director of Ecocem, adds: "This partnership is a major step forward for Ecocem. Our ACT technology reduces emissions by using cement more efficiently at no significant additional cost. We are excited to partner with TITAN, which shares our commitment to rapidly and substantially reduce CO₂ emissions in cement production. This collaboration can accelerate the adoption of SCMs with ACT technology and open up new global opportunities for rapid and cost-effective decarbonization of the cement industry."
