Architects, (structural) designers and artists, beware!

Boskalis has developed a special production method for concrete: Buoyconcrete, a weightless concrete that remains "suspended" under water where it is applied. After curing, the shape also remains above water. In this way, free forms can be made that would otherwise require a lot of formwork work and/or support. In the workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn all about this special working method, including a live demonstration of applying this concrete underwater.
Then in a number of brainstorming rounds we will work on designs in which this type of concrete can play a role. And we will look at how the production of this concrete can be taken further so that the forms can be extracted that are needed in projects.

A unique experience to see this concrete live in production and to get inspiration from each other for future projects. Using various working methods, we made iterations on the conceived proposals and together brought them to a higher plan.

Diederik Veenendaal, experimental thinking structural engineer of double-curved and free-formed shell structures at Summum Engineering, will be one of the facilitators and the inspiration for the workshop. He will also give a key-note lecture on specially shaped concrete structures.
