VSB Arjan de Velde
Arjan de Velde has taken over the gavel of the Scaffolding Companies Section of the Association of Scaffolding, Highwork and Concrete Formwork Companies (VSB) from Gijs Buijs.

As the Section's new president, Arjan de Velde also joins the VSB's General Board, which further consists of Frank Klessens (president, Section Highwork Companies) and Jan Remmits (treasurer, Section Concrete Formwork Companies).

Arjan de Velde takes over the position of section chairman from Gijs Buijs, who has been active in the association's administration for decades. In addition, he also represented the VSB for a long time, including within the board of the Aannemersfederatie Nederland (AFNL) and was interlocutor in the negotiations for the Collective Labor Agreement Construction. Arjan de Velde is Director of Operations at Brand Infrastructure Services B.V. and as such well versed in the scaffolding market.

The board of the scaffolding companies section further consists of R. Engelaar (Bilfinger Industrial Services), C. Hunter (Kaefer) and D. Koster (Steigerbouw Van der Panne).

The change of board takes place at a time when an important update of the Scaffolding Directive is being worked on within the Scaffolding Companies Section. Gijs Buijs will continue to supervise this update for as long as possible and will also continue to carry out work for the Directive on Concrete Shoring and Support Structures. For the coming years, the Section expects a growth in membership and a number of new initiatives are planned for all member companies, including an e-learning and digital toolbox. There is also plenty of movement in the other sections, with focal points including training, new laws and regulations, guidelines, knowledge transfer, and product and process innovations.

With members and donors, the VSB now has about 75 companies. The members alone represent an estimated annual turnover of 800 million euros. The broadly oriented constituency of the VSB pursues one common goal: to provide a safe workplace at height. Divided into three sections of erectors, manufacturers, suppliers and rental companies, the complete range of work equipment and products is represented. From steel scaffolding, mobile scaffolds, ladders, stairs, lifting scaffolds, construction elevators, aerial work platforms and suspended platform systems to concrete formwork, support structures and facade maintenance systems.
