Minister Hugo de Jonge is postponing the introduction of the Environment Act (and with it the Wkb). He writes this today in a letter to the Senate and House of Representatives.
"In recent weeks there have been several consultations with co-governments and experts about the introduction of the Environment Act. From these it emerged that more time is needed to practice well with the new systems. I want to take that time for a responsible and careful introduction," said Hugo de Jonge.
It is important that services to people and businesses are not compromised and that area development is not hindered.
The next few weeks will see whether the implementation date will be Oct. 1, 2022, or Jan. 1, 2023. Once this is clear, the draft Royal Decree (RD) will be presented to the Senate and House of Representatives. This can be debated in both Houses, so that there is timely clarity on the implementation date for implementation practice.
Of course, we will keep you informed of the implementation date chosen by the minister.
