In 2021, the implementation teams from the Concrete Agreement released their final reports. These include advice and (action) perspectives for the construction sector to meet the major climate challenges. Sound knowledge is essential in this regard. The Concrete Association is therefore launching the first in a series of courses on the Concrete Agreement, the 'MKI Course'.
EQI expresses the environmental impact of a (construction) solution over various life stages; from raw material extraction to reuse or waste, in a single financial value. Because sustainable procurement is becoming increasingly important to clients, they will increasingly factor the EQI value into their contracts. MKI is thus becoming an award criterion.
The development of the courses from the MKI Learning Course came about with the cooperation of various experts from the concrete sector and the implementation team "Declining MKI. They not only shape the course, but in many cases also play an active role as speakers or teachers. This course consists of one introductory course and three in-depth courses. You can register for the individual courses.
The "Introduction to MKI" course consists of an online and a physical component. The online part covers the basics of MKI, the movements around MKI, available calculation methodologies, and relevant guidelines and standards. During the physical program, trainees actively engage with each other on the issues surrounding MKI.
For those who are already more familiar with MKI and would like to get started in concrete terms, the MKI Course offers three in-depth courses that deal with calculating or using MKI. During these courses, students will learn how the (calculation) rules, guidelines and standards can be used when making an MKI calculation, it will be explained how the available calculation tools can be used optimally and the student will learn which aspects can be steered, taking into account the considerations that clients/buyers make when tendering for contracts.
