The application period for the 2019 Student Steel Prize and the Prepainted Metal Trophy closes on August 16, 2020. Students who graduated or are about to graduate between mid-2019 and mid-2020 are cordially invited to participate in the Student Steel Trophy. The Prepainted Metal Trophy is open to all courses (MBO, HBO, WO) and all years of study.
The Student Steel Award is organized each year by Building with Steel and is intended for architecture and civil engineering students at colleges, universities, academies of architecture and the Steel Structural Engineer and Structural Designer programs of Building with Steel. The award appreciates graduation work in which steel fulfills an important function.
There are three categories: Bachelor, Master and Master of Architecture. To encourage architecture students to participate, the latter category has been added. In addition, there are two cross-category, product-oriented prizes to be won: the Van Bentum Prize for applications of thin steel plate and the Prepainted Metal Trophy (enabled by ECCA) for a special application of prepainted metal. The Prepainted Metal Trophy is open to all student projects, not just graduation projects and to all degree programs.
In addition, Bouwen met Staal organizes the steelSCHOOL award in cooperation with MBO schools. After successful pilots with the Techniek College Rotterdam, Bouwen met Staal is looking for engineering schools that would also like to organize such a prize for graduating students in 2020.
The 2020 Student Steel Award will be presented Tuesday, Oct. 13, during National Steel Construction Day, which this year is an online event. The winning and nominated graduation projects will be published in the trade journal Building with Steel.
