This is the 2019-2020 Best Employer in construction and infrastructure

The employees of the Netherlands have spoken. They named VolkerWessels Bouw en Vastgoed Ontwikkeling as the Best Employer of 2019-2020 in construction and infrastructure. Effectory announced this based on its annual Best Employers survey.

In the Best Employer survey, more than 500.000 employees their employer. The best scoring organizations were awarded the "Best Employer Hallmark" last year: The Netherlands' largest, independent hallmark for good employment practices. This honest and free hallmark can only be obtained by what employees say about their organization as an employer. The winners per industry may now call themselves 'Best Employer 2019-2020' for a year. In construction and infrastructure, it is VolkerWessels Construction and Real Estate Development.

June 2, 2020: announcement of national winners

On June 2, during the Happy People - Better Business event announced who of all the industry winners received the highest score and is thus the Best Employer of the Netherlands. This is done within two categories: organizations with more or less than 1,000 employees.

The recipe for being a good employer

Best Employers appear to have several things in common. They generally have an inspiring board, few management layers and an appealing mission. They give their specialists a lot of responsibility and don't hinder them with unnecessary rules. They share information such as sales, profitability or customer satisfaction, so employees have a clear framework for improving themselves and the organization. Best Employers also use social innovation more often: they ask their employees how work can be done faster, cheaper, smarter and more customer-oriented. For all such reasons, working at Best Employers is enjoyable, according to the experts by experience.

Being a good employer: disparities are increasing

Organizations with a Best Employer Hallmark scored an average of 7.5 in this year's Best Employer Scan. Organizations without a hallmark achieved an average score of 6.6. Last year's score was 6.9. So the difference between employers with and without a hallmark has increased this year.

Being a good employer pays off

Best Employers have employees who are inspired, enjoy doing their work and feel committed to the organization. They are energized by their work and therefore experience a lower workload. This is reflected in lower absenteeism, higher turnover rates and greater customer focus. The Best Employers Hallmark makes it easier for organizations to recruit new talent.

Now also an international hallmark: World-class Workplace

Effectory's Best Place to Work seal will become available worldwide as a World-class Workplace in 2020. The principle remains the same: rewarding good employment practices with a seal of approval. More than 1,200 organizations in 90 countries have a chance to be named a World-class Workplace by their employees.
