Schuller & Company GmbH was founded 5 years ago by Helmut Schuller, a man with over 35 years of experience in industrial and plant engineering as well as a broad knowledge of the software sector. "I began my career as a mechanical engineer at an Austrian plant engineering company. This was followed in 1987 by a position as consultant and technician at an international American software company with a focus on industrial and plant engineering. Then in 2000 I moved to ALIAS GmbH in Munich, where I became responsible for sales in the design and automotive sector," explains the CEO. "In 2004, I took over the management of the German AVEVA GmbH and further built this company into a global market leader in installation technology. On behalf of AVEVA Ltd, I took over bocad in 2012 and thus came into close contact with this German software company."
When Schneider Electric acquired a majority stake in AVEVA in 2017, Schuller decided to leave and founded his own firm. ❯Because of the flat structure in Schuller & Company's organization, the CEO deliberately opts for short lines of communication and a no-nonsense approach. It comes down to being able to respond quickly and flexibly to clients' questions and also to be able to give them advice on how to further improve their processes. The company is growing steadily with a strong increase in the number of employees and the network of partners. In recent years, the already large customer base has grown by another half.
"Based on the good experiences from the past, the quality of the software programs and the potential to further expand this company and sell the software worldwide, I decided in 2022 to take over bocad Software GmbH," Schuller continues. "This Bochum-based company was started some 40 years ago and today relies on a strong and competent team of employees. Its software actually exists much longer, as it was developed in 1970 under the name CADBAU3 at Bochum University. Today, the bocad portfolio includes 5 modules: Steel, Roof & Wall, Tower, Timber and Offshore. The company now has branches in Germany, Poland, Belgium and Malaysia and sales partners in the Netherlands, India, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Australia."
For any steel structure, the bocad software provides the tools to design, refine and build. Visualization of the design gives all construction partners an immediate understanding of the structure. This allows designs to be translated into a prototype or finished product without errors or unnecessary work. Indeed, based on the BIM model, all lists are also drawn up, after which the production software automatically selects the best available machines for each part. "In terms of detailing, there is no better solution," says the CEO. "This program supports the workflow and offers opportunities to optimize it. By working with a 3D model, all parties involved can immediately consult and visualize the important information. bocad also helps to reduce waste of material, time and money at every stage of the process. Ultimately, this software reduces the error rate to an absolute minimum as well as increasing efficiency, productivity and profitability."
To sell and support bocad in the Netherlands, Schuller & Company is working with Liemar Software. "She is a very strong value added reseller for us. After all, she knows the market and the functionalities of software inside out. Just like ourselves, she helps her customers in steel and metal construction to plan and coordinate their projects more efficiently. In doing so, the bocad software is seamlessly integrated into its specialized ERP software LiemarX," Schuller concludes. "We also continue to invest heavily in product development. Recently, bocad 2024 was presented, with which everything can now be done even faster and clearer. The user makes his selection via the SmartSelect menu. Last year the bocademy was also launched. This allows us to help users through targeted and practical education and training - physical or online - to design and budget their structures perfectly."
