Platform on concrete and steel in construction

Behind the Scenes at Mouw Hoedliggers

Mouw Hoedliggers has specialized in the production of composite steel girders for construction and utility works for decades.

The efficient team works from the production hall in Ede to assemble and manufacture various types of beams for orders ranging from 30 to more than 100 tons.

The ingenious and in-house assembled machinery includes advanced production lines. This enables them to drill, bend, saw, and weld steel elements into high-quality steel beams for all possible constructions in a short period of time.

[00:02] My name is Edwin Mouw from Mouw Hoedliggers. I’ve been in the metal industry for 30 years. We manufacture roof trusses for the electrical construction industry, as well as roof trusses for sports arenas, distribution centers,

[00:19] We do a lot of crane girders for cranes, SOBs for floor girders, IFBs for floor girders, and cap girders for floor girders, as well as custom cutting for third parties. We can perform blasting here, and we can do automated welding here. We often receive positive feedback from customers that the parts always fit perfectly,

[00:36] What makes our service great is that we can adapt quickly, deliver on time, and always get the dimensions right. We’re able to produce high-quality products quickly, as we handle everything in-house. We’re also able to actively contribute ideas during the early stages of product development.

[00:52] And that’s why, with 30 years of experience in welding, automation, and transportation, we’ve got the whole process down pat. That’s why we took a tour of Mal Hoedliggers to see what our production procedures are like here.

[01:09] We spent half an hour here working on the IFB beams—specifically, cutting them to size. After that, we observed the blasting process, the cutting of the plates, the storage of the plates, and how we handle them using lifting magnets.

[01:23] Assembling the cap beams, assembling the cap beams. Welding the cap beams. The drilling line. The welding robot welds on both sides simultaneously. And in a single pass, we can weld 35 meters.

[01:37] First the bottom, then the top. That way, we can keep the joints nice and straight. And work quickly, so it looks neat. And ensure we meet all the procedures, such as the welding standards. ***
